Reduce processing demands
Use one instruction at a time, additional thinking time, uncluttered screens and predictable lesson structure. Do not use compulsory timers.
Pre-teach precise vocabulary
Teach choice, consent, pressure, coercion, arranged marriage, forced marriage, safeguarding and trusted adult in plain English before scenarios.
Offer several response methods
Allow pointing, selecting, drawing, writing or speaking. Do not require drag-only interaction, public reading or personal disclosure.
Protect meaning in translation
Check comprehension without asking pupils to interpret for one another. Legal and safeguarding translations should be professionally quality-assured.
Plan regulation and support
Allow pupils to pass, pause or use a private help route without explaining themselves publicly. Agree this route before teaching.
